I'm checking Mandrake's website http://www.mandrakestore.com/mdkinc/index....rt=343&LANG_=en and I'm wanting to see what is on the Power Packs CDs and I come to this part on the page stating 10 good reasons to choose Discovery 9.2 #9- Compatibility: Run Windows and Mandrake Linux on the same computer simultaneously So my question is, does the 9.2 boxed come with some sort of VMWare type of software or did they just goof up on the page?

I did pick one up. Forgot to post the results. MDK 9.1 found the card without issue and my mom is happy.

:D did it :D thanks gabbman and MottS directory is /usr/share/icons/crystalsvg - for the crystal icons in 9.1 I had to change the one for 32x32 as well. I like the panel menu size to be small. I now have a crystal penguin where the blue star was. Thanks again Bendu

I don't see it in the control center for KDE.

This is silly, I know, but when I upgraded KDE to 3.1.3 using Texstar's RPM my KDE 'K' has been changed to a blue star. How do I change that star back to the KDE 'K' or anything else I want?

Mom's card was an old ISA SB model CT not recognized by the OS and the error was the "error communicating with sound server" or something like that. the card is toast...I put it in another machine and it wasn't seen there either. The reason for the post is 1st Saturday is this weekend and I'm sure I could get an SB 128 for @$10.00 but seeing as I'm lazy, I could just go to the store that is down from work instead of getting up early on a Saturday :wink:

I had a similar issue with the onboard sound on an ECS KS57A. I changed the drivers in MCC and it didn't help after a reboot. I reloaded MDK9.1 with a full wipe of the / partition :banghead: I ended up breaking down and getting an SBLive. :wub: I have no sound issues now. but I do have sound

Hi Forum the sound card in mom's MDK 9.0 machine has died. I see at Microcenter that they have a sound card called Prowler Soundwave 4.1 made by Mad Dog. after rebates the card comes out to be less than $5 their site states it is a CMI 8738 chipset. Mandrake's site has the iffy mark next to it (the chipset - the manufacturer is not listed) showing that it has been reported as compatible. Has anyone else used one of Mad Dog's sound cards and it works well? thanks Bendu

why does everyone of those root controlled apps that have a password thing pop up with a check for "Keep Password" not keep the password when you check it? examples are the MCC and File Manager-Super User Mode is there a configuration that I missed or is this just a little trick the coders have been playing on us? :?
