Some of the Suse mirrors are already hosting Suse 10 OSS final.
Details:
readme:
SUSE-10.0-CD-i386-GM-CD*.iso: 5 CDs i386
SUSE-10.0-EvalDVD-i386-GM.iso: Same content as CDs on one DVD
SUSE-10.0-EvalDVD-x86_64-GM.iso: Same packages for x86-64 as one the DVD above
For additional software, check the openSUSE mirrors, they have a large FTP
tree together with the source RPMs. Details can be found via

ftpadmin@suse.com
Just grabbing the DVD from a Swiss Server at 940K+/second.

So is tomorrow the day for the release of 2006 stable?
If so when will the mirrors get it?

Ya, a couple of months ago when I ran Debian, It was at 3.3 stable and they were just taking about updating the stable to 3.4. The Sid, is this The developmental Build?
-
Enjoy Debian. Have they upgraded to KDE 3.4X yet?
-
Got this in my e-mail today. they hadn't updated their software.
Hi,
As you probably know, several Novell hosted web sites got defaced by
a vandal on the weekend.
The vandalized hosts wiki.novell.com, opensuse.org, and forge.novell.com
are actually virtual hosts living on one machine, making this one
affected machine.
The intruder gained access to the system by exploiting a known
vulnerability in the "Xoops" blog software installed on another
virtual host on this system (www.novell.com/prblogs/).
This software was not upgraded to the latest security fixed version.
The host affected is fully separate from our RPM and security fix
delivery machines, so the integrity of our distributions and
update repositories was not affected.
Sincerely,
Marcus Meissner, SUSE Security Team

I'm on Cable extreme and used the Calgary University Server for apt-Get.
I started it at 3:30 p.m. and it didn't finish untill 11:30 p.m.. I decided after that
to download the dvds - that way I could still use my computer while the DVDs downloaded. The install was much faster using the media. But Hey, if you can find a faster server for apt-Get, all the power to you.
-
If you go with the apt get with mini, be prepared to have it take 6 to 8 hours
to install - I've done it and will not be doing it again. :o
-
I have both dvds and you only need first.
-
Been using AMD sinse 2001. Started with an Athlon 900,
and now have a Barton 2800 with Heatpipe cooling. Still fast enough, no
need to upgrade untill the dual cores become mainstream.
-
A nearby Novell employee was quoted as saying "D***it, Jim, I'm a technical writer, not a network security monkey!"
I am under the impression from the buzz i am hearing, that they never even thought that OpenSuse would be a target, thus making it very hackable.
-
Are you kidding, I'll have to check that out and tell the boys at my Suse forum, as they have no idea why. :o

New Feature Detail
Key new features in VMware Workstation 5.5 Beta:
Support for 64-bit guest operating systems
Users can now run select 64-bit operating systems in virtual machines. This gives users additional freedom and flexibility to work with the operating systems that best suit their needs, including the ability to run 32- and 64-bit operating systems simultaneously on the same physical machine. Supported 64-bit guest operating systems include select Microsoft Windows, Red Hat, SUSE, and FreeBSD distributions. This 64-bit guest capability is fully supported on select Opteron and Athlon processors from AMD, and experimentally supported on Intel VT-enabled processors. A free utility that checks for supported processors is available as part of the download process. Read the details on supported 64-bit guest operating systems and required processors.
Experimental support for 2-way Virtual SMP
Users can now assign up to two virtual processors to a virtual machine. This lets users create more realistic and powerful development and testing environments when working with multi-threaded, resource-intensive software. This capability is available for all supported configurations of 32-bit and 64-bit host and guest operating systems running on multi-processor host machines, including dual-core and hyper-threaded, uni-processor machines.
New support for select host & guest operating systems and hardware - 32 and 64 bit
Workstation 5.5 offers new host and guest operating system support for the latest distributions from Microsoft, Red Hat, SUSE, Sun Solaris x86, FreeBSD and more. Workstation 5.5 also offers support for new processors from Intel and AMD. Read the details on supported operating systems and processors.
Seamlessly open and convert Microsoft virtual machines or Norton Ghost 9 images
Via the Workstation user interface, users can now easily:
Open Microsoft virtual machines and Norton Ghost 9 images. In this process, the initial virtual machine or image is left untouched in its native format and any modifications are saved in a much smaller VMware-formatted file that is linked to the initial image.
Convert Microsoft virtual machines and Norton Ghost 9 images into complete, full VMware virtual machines. The initial virtual machine is left untouched.
These capabilities make it easier for individuals working in a multi-vendor environment to use VMware Workstation to standardize on the VMware platform, or to reuse their libraries of physical machine images when building or deploying a virtual infrastructure.
Toolbar customization capabilities
Workstation 5.5 allows users to customize the toolbar icons by simply right-clicking on any of the icons. Users can now easily organize the toolbar to best fit their needs.
New wireless networking capabilities for Linux hosts
For Linux hosts, Workstation 5.5 now supports wireless Ethernet adapters used in bridged networking, letting users connect virtual machines to wireless networks. Support for wireless Ethernet adapters is already present for Workstation on Windows hosts.
Improved autodetect makes it easier to configure devices for virtual machines
Workstation 5.5 extends existing autodetect support for CD-ROM drives to other hardware devices. You can now set a virtual machine to also automatically detect floppy drives, sound adaptors, and parallel and serial ports.
Enhancements to the command line interface
Workstation 5.5 features new enhancements to the command line interface (vmrun) that let users manage snapshots of virtual machines. With vmrun commands, users can now quickly create, delete, list, and go to specific snapshots.

Info:
The openSUSE project is a community program sponsored by Novell (http://www.novell.com). Promoting the use of Linux everywhere, openSUSE.org provides free, easy access to the world's most usable Linux distribution, SUSE Linux. The openSUSE project gives Linux developers and enthusiasts everything they need to get started with Linux. The goals of the openSUSE project are:
Make SUSE Linux the easiest Linux distribution for anyone to obtain and the most widely used open source platform.
Provide an environment for open source collaboration that makes SUSE Linux the world's best Linux distribution for new and experienced Linux users.
Dramatically simplify and open the development and packaging processes to make SUSE Linux the platform of choice for Linux hackers and application developers.
With the launch of the openSUSE project, SUSE Linux is now developed in an open model—public development builds, releases, and sources will be posted frequently here and you will have access to our Bugzilla database for defect reporting. You can also sign up on special interest mailing lists to make sure that you are always getting the most recent news on the openSUSE project and the SUSE Linux distribution. In time (see our project road map), we will create the next-generation distribution development infrastructure including a code management system and a public build server.

MCNLive is a Mandriva-based live CD developed by MandrivaClub.nl in The Netherlands. This new English-only pre-release, code name "Jordaan", is a freshly build distribution from the current Cooker (Mandriva's development branch). It features the XFce desktop, the new ad-free Opera 8.50, Mandriva Control Center, and a set of multimedia applications - all that and more on a 200MB live CD. The product also includes a graphical application for installing the operating system to a USB storage device.

Me Too
But what help did you give me?
OH.. You mean telling me that my avatar and username tells you that I must be
a script kiddy. Use your brain Adriano, I think if a scrip Kiddie wanted to learn he or she would be part of a cracker forum, not a Mandriva Forum.
