ive just re-installed my mandriva 2007 powerpack and trying to get my sidewinder gamepad working
can anyone tell me if it will work on linux and how to set it up as i cant see it anywhere in hardware
-
Delete, or just don't copy the CD/DVD media to the hard disk. You don't need to do this. If you don't do it, it just means when it needs some files from your CD/DVD it will ask you to enter the disk instead of copying it from the hard disk like it was doing before.
thanks mate, ive always copied the whole cds, as thought this was the best way
il do it your way when i do the re-install
thanks again
-
Then, possibly in /var/ftp/pub you will have a Mandriva directory with all the rpms from the CD/DVD stored in there.
and what do i need to do delete them or just not copy whole cds when i do the re-install
-
yeh i trhink i told it to "copy whole cds"

Try 'cat /etc/fstab' :)
root@localhost john]# cat /etc/fstab
/dev/hda1 / ext3 defaults 1 1
/dev/hda6 /home ext3 defaults 1 2
/dev/hdc /mnt/cdrom auto umask=0,users,iocharset=utf8,noauto,ro,exec 0 0
none /mnt/floppy supermount dev=/dev/fd0,fs=ext2:vfat,--,umask=0,iocharset=utf8,sync 0 0
none /proc proc defaults 0 0
/dev/hda5 swap swap defaults 0 0
[root@localhost john]#
-
[root@localhost john]# /etc/fstab bash: /etc/fstab: Permission denied @localhost ~]$ df Filesystem Size Used Avail Use% Mounted on /dev/hda1 7.7G 6.9G 440M 95% / /dev/hda6 26G 97M 26G 1% /home [john@localhost ~]$ /etc/fstab bash: /etc/fstab: Permission denied

Well, looks like you aren't set up to do 3d rendering. What kind of video card do you have?
nvidia geforce 6200 128 m/b
dlink-520 airplus

im trying to set up a wireless network pci card i just got given on my mandriva box. im using powerpack edition 2008 with a belkin router.
when i try the wireless set up in configure your computer it tells me to use the windows driver (which i had to downl;oad) with ndiswrapper?
when i try this i get this error
Some components (firmware) are required but aren't available for ndiswrapper hardware. Firmware files are required for this device.
The required files can also be installed from this URL:
http://ndiswrapper.sourceforge.net/mediawiki/index.php/List
i dont understand this as i updated ndiswrapper through install software?
did a google for linux drivers for this card and was told to get the following driver
acx-mac80211-vlynq-20071006.tar.bz2
unpacked it through konsole and cd into file and cant get any further as it says no such file or directory when i type ./configure
read the readme file in the folder and its so confusing i thought i was working for NASA
any help here with simplified instructions please
