No log on screen stright into the KDE splash and into desktop...

I heard there is a new KDE around...i have 3.3 i think is that the latest?

This is just something that annoys me...i know its petty but it annoys me...

The first time i installed MDK10.2 LE i got the log on screen; however recently when i reinstalled it; it doesnt happen, am i missing something??

im finally getting a hang of the linux partitions, such as /usr (installation directory) and /usr/home (our own private space).

Anyway wheredo programs such as rpms install? is the /bin folder ??

Hi guys i was wondering if using another hard-drive as the /usr or /usr/home, will affect the installation of my crossover office...as when i did a temp, / and /home installation it worked....because my hard-drive is only 6 gigs so i am stuggling for sapce, hence i have different hard-drive dstrubtion of my partitions

hi guys...ive being busy as usual...ive tried running kate and going down to the line 1033, but it ends at 3xx ish...have i done something wrong...

this is frustrating...ive managed to get it to run on another old comp...however ehen my hard-drive died i had to reinstall it again it came up with the same messages...this is infuriating

the crossover office (4.6.2 pro...from mem) is a .sh extension.

i use:

sh <filename>.sh

im sure my file works because my friend tried my copy to make sure it works; cause he brought his copy with mine at the same time. I guess there is something wrong with my setup

hmm...funny...ive removed the network monitor from my system tray...connected with kpp and its works...thought id be an ass and check network monitor...guess wat? ...Its not connected...

Oh well stuff it...cant be bothered.

Ive watched the log of the file,i have an ip and DNS assigned; however the network monitor registers as not connected.

I was wondering in theory if you connect with either one of these connections; is the corresponding network monitor or kPPP, suppose to register??

And for some reason, my network monitor does not have a graph tab for my ppp0 or sstyl0 connection, it only has a eth0 graph...is there a way i can enable a tab or replace it; because i have shut off my lan until i comfortable with mandriva...

I can surf websites if i connected through the network monitor, but not through kPPP

Simply both these are acting indivually, however kPPP cant do anything

Yeah i have auto DNS switched on in the kPPP;

currently i am online...after connecting through network monitor; however when i check my kPPP connection it says that i am offline...the stats in network monitor dont work...they contiune to focus on my eth0...

However when i connect to the net through kPPP, the network monitor doesnt register. Also, when i try to access yahoo...i cant ...

Hi another one of my n00b questions....

Ive managed to my rig online through the network monitor, however when i refer to kPPP application, it does not seem to be connected...However if i connect through kPPP, i am unable to surf and websites; mozilla just says it cant search *and yeah...im onlien cause the corresponding connecting lights are on*, do both these work independent of each other? IS there a way to synchronize them so they so the same info, all connection and allow both control.

Ive downloaded kget and installed, however nothing happens, i don't get a link in the internet menu nor do i get a GUI when i enter kget in the terminal ?

Have i done something wrong? OR have i forgotten something ?

Ive searched many repositories, and it seems that they are currently stuck on 10.02, whereas fc is on 10.6...why is that? and would 10.2 be the latest?

I wondering how do i get mandriva to remember my settings, everytime i put up the volume in the mixer it reverts back to a medium level everytime i restart.

Hi guys, just managed to get online with mandriva, the problem now lies with my network monitor on the bottom of the screen.

For some reason its main focus is on my /dev/eth0 rather than my connection on /dev/sstyl0. The tabbed graph is based on my etho (lan) rather than my dial up ....Is there a way i change this?

Also, when i click connect on the network monitor, it wont connect....it keeps sending dud pakcets through my eth0 rather than my sstyl0; how i can i rectify this?

I know that i have setup the connection properly because i can get online through mandriva no problems, however everytime i have to run a network setup through drakconf...
