I am currently running Amarok version 1.1 and I wish to upgrade to the latest version so that I can use its audioscrobbler support. Problem is, when I run the RPM I get this error:

Some Package requested could not be installed:
amarok-1.2-3.101mdk.i586 (due to unsatisfied libmusizbrainz.so.4)
Do you agree?

I have no idea what to do, I tried uninstalling amarok 1.1 first but got the same error, I even tried version 1.2 - Where am I going wrong?

As the subject of this thread fits my problem, I shall post my problem here. Basically Firefox won't connect to the web. Mozilla will, perfectly but Mozilla won't. Few things that have happened though:

1. I download a tar.gz copy of 1.0.4 off of Mozilla's site, I installed it and it worked but when I rebooted it stopped working (it would appear in the task bar saying "Opening Firefox" then just dissapear and never load).

2. I tried to uninstall it all and reinstall. If I try and install from a tar.gz Firefox file now I get this error:

[root@localhost firefox-installer]# ./firefox-installer

SCIM: im_module_init

free(): invalid pointer 0x820d110!

free(): invalid pointer 0x820d0e8!

./firefox-installer: line 56: 6889 Segmentation fault ./${BIN

(That error appears when I click "forward" on the first page of the installer for Firefox).

3. I managed to install an rpm of 1.0.2 it loads, but it won't connect to the web.

Hopefully someone can lend me a hand with this one because I am rather stumped!

Thanks for that, it DID help to a degree, but I still have one problem. Everytime, I have to run this command:

setpci -s 0:14.4 subordinate_bus=03

If I don't it refuses to work. That subordinate_bus thing keeps defaulting to 02. Anyway I can fix that/add it to automatically just run that command?

Ok. even though my above thing did work, Mandrake does not remember my settings when it reboots. Sam goes for my wireless connection. I have to keep on doing everything again. Is there a way I can tell Linux to run these commands on boot? Thanks :)

As you may have seen in the two other threads, I had a few problems. I sorted both but the problemm is, when I reboot I have to sort them again because it basically forgets what I did.

First off, the driver for the synaptics touch pad does not remember that I turned off one of its features. And the net does not remember anything after "modprobe ndiswrapper".

Is there a way to make all these commands run automatically when Linux boots so that I do not have to do them myself?

I fixed it! If anyone else has the same issue you can do the following:

Log in as root

type "synclient -l" to list all settings off the touch pad

then type "synclient MaxTapTime=0" to turn it off.

Sorted ;)

Mendriva is using the synaptics touch pad driver for my mouse, it works great but there is a feature where you can click by tapping the touch pad. How do I disable this feature?

Yay! I got it to work. I set the IP - my problem was that my ESSID was wrong! So I changed that and it worked great! Thanks for all your help :)

Well "ifup wlan0" fails when trying to get the IP information. I did try a static and DHCP IP but it seemed to not stay? I'll try it again later, see if it makes a difference, I may have just pressed the wrong thing! Thansk for your continued support :)

Right, first off, thank you SO much, It has installed and the light on the card has come on, but I still have a problem. Even though the lights are on I cannot connect to the net still. I have added the WEP key, is there a tutorial anywhere to help me finish off configuring?

You may want to try and download ndiswrapper 1.1 and see if this helps, it may require a later version to help resolve issues.  I think earlier versions of ndiswrapper wouldn't work with LE2005 (assuming you're using that).

Well, I did try installing it but when I type "make install" it gives an error, saying that the Kernal Sources cannot be found. So I am a bit stuck really

I just installed Mandrake/Mandriva linux in a dual boot with Windows XP home edition. Everything is working great in way of the operating system but no matter what I do I cannot get ndiswrapper to work with my Belkin F5D7010 Wireless Notebook network card. This is what I have done:

I have installed version 0.9 using the software installer in Mandrake

I have then added the driver and when I say "ndiswrapper -l" it does say that the driver is installed and that my hardware is present.

I type "ndiswrapper -m" and that adds the extra bit of a code successfully.

My problem is, when I type "modprobe ndiswrapper" it says: FATAL Module Ndiswrapper not found.

And then if I do iwconfig, it does not bring up my connection.

Few other things you will probably need to know to help me:

I am typing the commands in as root

It is a Toshiba Equium A60 Notebook P4 3.06Ghz 256MB RAM

The card does work fine, I have booted back to XP numerous times and it works fine.

I have searched, but no one seems to hit the problem like I have, sadly.
