  1. Well, I've heard about some problems when some USB devices aren't connected directly to the port, but I don't really know. I don't really see what the problem is though, being that they're hot-swappable... couldn't you just unplug one of the devices for a little while? Or is it something you keep running continuously, like a webcam?

    I have 512mb RAM, and 2G swap. Most of the time I don't need 2G of course, but I use a source based distro, and do some extremely heavy video editing. In my experience, the more memory the better.

  3. I don't use Rox-filer, however, I would imagine that you're going to have to look in your settings, there should probably be something there related to mime-types.... that would be where you'd add new file types.

  4. I would agree with mtweidmann about getting a card reader. Basically, what you're doing is making sure the kernel recognizes the cards (In my case, I think Mandrake's kernels already do by default) and then mounting the card like a hard drive. Incidently, in my case, I don't even have to have a seperate card reader, I just connect the camera and mount it as a hard drive, and then copy all of the files to a folder that isn't going to disappear when I umount the camera.
