  1. I'm using KDE4.2 on Mandriva 2009.0, KDE installed from Mandriva's packages.

Everything was all right, but a couple of days ago, I observed, that i can't add plasmoids to the desktop and/or panel any more.

Any attempt in adding a plasmoid results in plasma freezing.

I have no idea where to start to look after the problem... any help would be appreciated.

I tried to start plasma from a console and see if there are any error when I add a plasmoid, but no, there is absolutely nothing shown there when I add a plasmoid, just plain plasma freeze.

Plasmoids are working without a problem if I run them with plasmoidviewer.

    SOLUTION:

    I've deleted ~/.kde4/share/config/plasma-appletsrc

Than readded all my plasmoids and reconfigured all lost desktop settings.

  2. SOLUTION:

ALL DIGITAL INPUT/OUTPUT CHANNELS HAD TO BE ENABLED AND SET TO A 50% VALUE EVEN IF I HAVE NO SUCH CHANNELS IN USE. TO HIGH VALUE RENDERS MICROPHON USELESS RESULTIN IN A SILENT BACKGROUND NOISE, TO LOW VALUES RELUST IN SILENCE.

    =====================

    Mandriva 2009.0

    KDE 4

I installed it on my HP Pavillion dv6000 laptop. Everything was fine, but suddenly the microphone stopped working.

    Microfone tested - good.

    sound playback - working

Sound recording - nothing. Perfect silence, or some noise.

With mandriva 2008 there were no problems.

    What I tried:

    - reset settings to default from MCC

    - reset setting to default from KDE CC

    - alsamixer in console, set everythign to max

    - kmix ... play with different settings ... nothing

    - lot of restarts between settings change

    - disable pulseaudio

    - try other microphone

I have perfect playback of music but no recording whatsoever. The internal mic is not working, the external mic is not working.

    ADDITIONAL INFORMATION:

    root@localhost csabi]# cat /proc/asound/card0/codec#* | grep Codec

    Codec: Conexant CX20549 (Venice)

    [root@localhost csabi]# lspcidrake -v | fgrep -i AUDIO

    snd_hda_intel : Intel Corporation|82801G (ICH7 Family) High Definition Audio Controller (vendor:8086 device:27d8 subv:103c subd:30bb)

Any help would be appreciated, it is very important on this laptop to have proper sound. I use it frequently for voice confernces.

  3. If there's no legacy USB support in the computer BIOS (incl. the latest revision update), then there are just two things you can do:

    1. Buy a PS2 keyboard,

    2. Buy a newer mainboard.

    :D

    1. I have my old ps2 keyboard, but this USB whireless one is better. After all, grub is not so important, I still can start linux by default and reboot in windows if necesary. It is just about wasteing time...

    2. Maybe next year  till then...

  4. Situation: SquirrelMail, qmail mailserver. I want to install autoresponder plug-in for Squirrel.

Squirrel is configured to use MySQL, it sais all configs are OK. Squirrel works perfectly.

Qmail is installed whit basic setup from "Living with qmail" website.

IMAP, SMTP and POP3 are OK.

I tryed all autoresponder plugins for Squirrel none of them is working.

FTP connection to server is out of discussion due to security reasons.

MySQL and Apache are configured, and they work OK, there are other php/mysql applications running on this machine without any problem.

Basicly, I need some detailed documentation, exemples of configuration etc. I looked on the Internet but I found nothing usefull.

Please, if any of you managed to do this, tell me how, or where I can read about this. Thanks.

  5. Hi everyone,

I have a Microsoft Wireless keyboard + mouse, connected to the PC on an USB port. My oldish PC (Compaq EVO D300v, P3) has NO USB legacy keyboard support. So, in GRUB I can't use my keyboard.

I red some time ago somewhere on the Internet (can't remember where) that GRUB may have usb support, but there ware no specifications (at that time I was with LILO...).

If you have any ideeaa how to configure GRUB to use my keyboard, any help is appreciated.

    SO is Mandriva 2007.1 pwp

Keyboard is Microsoft Wireless MultiMedia Keyboard v.1.1

    Thanks
