  1. I got my Audigy LS card to work eventually with the OSS driver from here but it only plays the two front speakers with xmms - apparently it will works as 4+1 with Xine and Ogle.

I'd like to get a soundcard which works well with ALSA so I can use it with all channels - any medium/high end cards that people recommend?

    Using 10.1 powerpack :thanks:

  2. go to the firefox preferences and change all fonts to sans-serif except the monospace entry. reduce the size of the fonts to 14 instead of 16 (default).

a question is: which dpi do you use as default on your system for font rendering? 75 or 100?

THanks for the reply - as for font rendering I stick with "system setting" - should I change it?

  3. I used Thac's rpms and the usual ones from easyurpmi but cannot get KDE to install - Gnome 2,8 installed ok though:

Does that not suggest that the modules are loaded already? :wall:

  5. I am trying to get my DVB TV card to work and the linuxtv.org mailing list said the following:

    For a BT878 card, you'll need to enable the "I2C bit-banging interface"

kernel option before you can enable the BT878 options under DVB devices.

You'll also need to select the appropriate tuner and frontend devices. I'd compile them all as modules.

Once, that's done, it's a matter of modprobing each module in the right order. Note that if you don't pass bttv the correct parameters, it'll probably hang your machine. They're documented in the dvb driver docs.

How exactly do I do that?

Surely if the card has been detected during installation it will have enabled that stuff already - any way to check? :wall:
