I have been running Mandriva for about a week now, and all of a sudden, I try booting today and it goes into a Command Line only? Where is KDE? I recently installed ATI drivers, but i have rebooted after that and it worked. What's going on? Is there a file somewhere that I need to change to get it into the KDE environment?

TIA, i really need some help, i'm new!

At the command prompt, log in as root. Type

root

and enter the root password. Now type

XFdrake

and set up your graphic card again. Once this is done, log out as root ("exit"), log in as normal user and test with

startx

thank!, i will try that, but i ran startx before tryingto reconfigure my video card. I get this error:

Unidentified Monitor aticonfig-Monitor[0]

Fatal Server Error: no screen found

so, it was the drivers i installed. I looked at the xorg.conf file to see whats up, and ati is in a bunch of places so i don't know what to change.

i will try your method, thanks, and if any1 else has any tips, it would be really appreciated.
