Guest klinger2004 Posted October 27, 2003 Report Share Posted October 27, 2003 Hi - Im not exactly sure if this is the right forum for this - but I wasn't sure if this is distro specific or not. I am using REDHAT 9 and when I burn a cd using K3B - it burns it as root (i think :? ) - so after a rinstall, I copied these files over to my hard drive and the owners are as root. I want to have control over these files as "eric" - my user name. What is an easy way to do this? Up until now I've been chmod-ing all of the directories as I need them - but if I change the owner to eric, I think that won't be a problem - right?
