jlc
Well, there rhl.redhat.com has been saying WAIT for about a month! Red Hat wants to thank the community for embracing this new project. We have received a lot of interest, comments, and questions, which have resulted in us rethinking some of our initial plans. Some things we are working on before we relaunch are: * Collaborating with existing projects to avoid duplication of effort * Incorporating community suggestions and feedback We expect to have more information for you by September 15th. In the meantime, keep working with us via: Well, it's September 15 and so far all we got is a snipet from a developer. Draft of additional information (no, not the final new site yet, but we're getting there...) is taking longer than expected to go through process; I think we're blocked on a bit of process, right now waiting for someone to do a review. We do have real changes, but we're still working out a couple of minor details, which are still worth getting right before we roll this out. The change is exciting, though, and I think it will be worth the wait. IMHO, anyway. michaelkjohnson "He that composes himself is wiser than he that composes a book." jlc
Now this guy comes off like a jerk. * From: Nils Philippsen <nphilipp redhat com> * To: rhl-list redhat com * Subject: Re: Red Hat 10 and RHEL 3.0 * Date: Fri, 12 Sep 2003 23:16:46 +0200 On Fri, 2003-09-12 at 22:15, Mike Peterson wrote: > Would it be possible to get an update as to when within a 2 week or > month time frame the Red Hat 10 download ISO images and the Red Hat > Enterprise Linux ES 3.0 download ISO images will be coming online? I don't think so, maybe because I can't find my "I CAN'T BELIEVE IT'S NOT CRYSTAL" ball at the moment (SCNR). > Will RHEL take the place of the consumer boxed sets on store shelves > anytime in the future? I cannot comment on that (lack of knowledge). Not that I would if I could ;-). Usually we announce that kind of stuff through the press, not mailing lists :o). > What is supposed to happen on 9-15-03? As of http://rhl.redhat.com: "We expect to have more information for you by September 15th." -- if we would have expected to have this information earlier, I guess we would have written so. grendal
Wow what a jerk. Maybe he should be the company spokesman :!: :!: :? Instead of looking for his crystral ball, he should have his head pulled out of his...(you know what I mean). I tell you, he makes me want to run to best buy and wait for the next release of RedHat. And I bet he thought he was being clever. Anyway I know I'll end up downloading RH10 when it's release and MDK9.2 also, but since I'm still learning, I'm in no big hurry. jlc
Another update from rhl.redhat.com Red Hat wants to thank the community for embracing this new project. We have received a lot of interest, comments, and questions, which have resulted in us rethinking some of our initial plans. Some things we are working on before we relaunch are: * Collaborating with existing projects to avoid duplication of effort * Incorporating community suggestions and feedback * We are excited to announce that we are working on an alliance with another well-known provider of Red-Hat compatible packages. * We are doing work on renaming the project and will re-launch the web site after that renaming is done. * In the meantime, a wide range of updates to the first test release of Severn, including GNOME 2.4, are available on RHN in the "Red Hat Linux (Severn) 9.0.93 - Beta Updates" channel. Please subscribe and update! * We will update our web site with the new name and new schedule by the end of this week, weather permitting. * The exact timing of the next test release of Severn will depend on the weather and on our weather preparations; for now all we know for sure is that our weather preparations will not allow us to make a release this week. In the meantime, keep working with us via: Oh, weather permitting is linked to. http://www.nhc.noaa.gov/
