changing port with proftpd

hi everybody,

I am trying to make proftpd run with mandrake 9.1 behind a netgear router. I want first to fix the proftpd.conf file at the localhost level. Everything work well with standard port 21 but if I change to port 59000 or what ever, I can't connect. The daemon is working in standalone mode. Do I have to modify /etc/services and how ? even in standalone mode !!

thanks for any help.

chris

Try to reload the config file.. All I had to do was edit the proftpd.conf file, don't see why it should be any harder for you. (It outputs ip and port when starting proftpd)

Have you opened the port in your router? And the passiveports? And configured proftpd for NAT?
