83mercedes
cybrjackle, thanks for the link! Have you got that to work? I tried getting the packages it says, but couldn't make it work. Here we go again, eh?
jlc
I used it in the past when I used SuSE. What part doesn't work? btw, doesn't work as well as in Debian, but it does work. I tried getting the packages it says, but couldn't make it work. What do you mean by this? Did you get the apt package. edit your /etc/apt/sources.list with what they give you and do a apt-get update :?:
83mercedes
yes, but not that simple, ran into dependency probs, it finally installed, ran apt-get update and got command not known. I'll try again tonite after work. I'm still not sure exactly which packages to install, since there are several on the page... Thanks,
jlc
**Another Note** Did you install the apt rpm's from here? ftp://ftp.gwdg.de/pub/linux/suse/apt/SuSE...386/RPMS.extra/ After that, did you edit the /etc/apt/sources.list vi /etc/apt/sources.list Add the following to it. # # Repository created by: aptate (version 0.65.2) # At: Mon Sep 8 13:41:04 MEST 2003 # More info about aptate at: http://apt4rpm.sourceforge.net # rpm ftp://ftp.gwdg.de/pub/linux/suse/apt SuSE/8.2-i386 base update-prpm update kde xfree86 mozilla extra usr-local-bin suser-kpietrz suser-tcousin suser-ollakka funktronics packman packman-i686 mantel-kernel suse-people kde3-stable security-prpm security rpm-src ftp://ftp.gwdg.de/pub/linux/suse/apt SuSE/8.2-i386 base update-prpm update kde xfree86 mozilla extra usr-local-bin suser-kpietrz suser-tcousin suser-ollakka funktronics packman packman-i686 mantel-kernel suse-people kde3-stable security-prpm security Please make sure you read the FAQ about apt-get and SuSE on there page. Keep attention to the "KERNEL" upgrade & lilo or grub, which ever you use. If your not paying attention to what it will upgrade. You will get a fresh kernel with an old boot config which = NO BOOT! Also keep in mind that SuSE 8.2 came out quite some time ago so you are going to see a lot of updates. Read the FAQ, Read the FAQ, Read the FAQ! See what I'm saying??

Thanks, Your going to want at least: apt-0.5.5cnc6-rb3.i386.rpm If it ask for more dependency's <I can't remember> then go back to that ftp site and download what it ask for. ftp://ftp.gwdg.de/pub/linux/suse/apt/SuSE...386/RPMS.extra/
83mercedes
Got it, and it works! Here is what I installed to make it work: apt-0.5.5cnc6-rb3.i386.rpm apt-libs-0.5.5cnc6-rb3.i386.rpm lua-5.0-rb3.i386.rpm installed in reverse of the order listed here, and very cool! Seems to me that SuSE is like the Mercedes-Benz of distros, whatcha think? :)
