Chris H
Just had to reinstall Mandriva as my partition got toasted when I installed a distro on another partition. Previously I'd used the graphical/online/blue arrow upgrade method but I believe this has been pulled. Is it recommended to upgrade by changing the sources as an alternative? Ta. yossarian
Is it recommended to upgrade by changing the sources as an alternative? You can do that, but if you don't rely on your connection, I suggest upgrading from the Free CD's (or the DVD).
Chris H
Cheers Yossarian, will do that tonight. I found 2009/Gnome to be excellent.

Chris H
Hmm, it's broke! Updated the sources to 2009 at easyurpmi and it errored on a few updates. So selected task-kde4 to install for the hell of it and found I couldn't log in except as root. Have done a quick install. So where to from here? How do I get safely to 2009? adamw
if you get errors on the upgrade, re-run the urpmi --auto-update command, and don't stop until it's entirely completed. If it keeps cycling the same error over and over again, try and figure out how to fix it (and report it); if you can't, post here. The graphical upgrade procedure will be enabled again in a few days: we've basically fixed all the bugs in it now (we hope...), but we want to let all the mirrors sync up with the fixed packages before we re-enable the option. Chris H
Thanks Adam, I'll sit tight for the graphical update. It worked well for me last time.
