Guest JaseP
SCO is seeking to gain the footholds it needs to begin taking Linux users to task for using what they claim is their intellectual property: see; http://www.internetnews.com/dev-news/artic...cle.php/2237771 In a nutshell they are obtaining certified copyrights on Unix System V, so that they can try an extort money from Linux users. They will be selling "licenses" to their software which are designed specifically to indemnify the customers from being sued by SCO... Any fool company that pays licensing fees to these idiots either is not thinking straight, or had more money than brains... SCO will likely be a bad nightmare within 2 years, and these companies will have paid for nothing essentially.
jlc
SCO is a nutshell.
iphitus
I wouldn't use SCO's name on a linux site. They'll probably sue you through some obscure copyright law.

Guest JaseP
I think it's high time that IBM pulls the cork out of its mouth and shoves it squarely up the buttocks of SCO with their big size 12s attached to the the other end... Enough of this crap of silently taking SCO's BS,... It's high time they squashed this bug.
Glitz
Actually, if you think about it, if SCO "knows" that their code is in Linux then it would be illegal for them to distribute any of the GPLed portions of Linux unless they were willing to put their code under the GPL as well or separate out their code and turn them into installable modules. Glitz.
Ixthusdan
If it were a poker game, sco would be really bold and causing heads to turn. And some might fold their hands. But, a bluff is a bluff. And since it is not a poker hand, anyone paying them over loud talk and no proof doesn't deserve to stay in the game!

Glitz. That is well covered in the position paper published by opensource.org. (the previous link I posted) Very WELL covered. 8) Also in that position paper is extremely interesting information concerning a 1993 lawsuit between the (then) Unix "rights" owners and BSD. :bsd: Here's some fascinating stuff out of Australia today: http://www.smh.com.au/articles/2003/07/23/...8853121030.html  :mandrake:
tyme
does anyone know of how, in America, someone would go about filing a complaint against SCO? such as the link to the ACCC provided by the page Steamcat refers to? just curious, 'cuz i'd be all over that (and I'm sure other linux users in America would too if it was possible.) SteamCat
It shouldn't be long before the official complaint filings against SCO start piling up. The first thought that comes to my mind is to keep an eye on the FSF and Opensource.org.

Ixthusdan
In Indiana, anyone doing business here is accountable to the State Attorney General, including deceptive business practices. That is where a state complaint is filed.
SteamCat
This article contains a great deal of info. Even a call to arms of sorts to follow Germany's initiative to get court injunctions against SCO. http://mozillaquest.com/Linux03/ScoSource-...ts_Story01.html
