sarah31
maybe the package that file is in is just readline not libreadline.
bvc
Do; urpmf libreadline.so.3 if it list a pkg, do; urpmi pkg_name if it doesn't find it, try; urpmf libreadline.so if it finds other versions (libreadline.so.2) you'll have to download the correct one and install it and its deps. If I could access linux rt now I'd tell ya, but.......
Nails
Thanks for all the help!! I seem to have libreadline.so.4 installed ( in readline ) I`m going to have to rethink this as i`ve failed to trackdown libreadline.so.3. on rpm find or anywhere else. Again thanks for the help. It was worth knowing about urpmf Nails
bvc
Is that the latest Fvwm? The ideal thing would be to find one that depends on libreadline.so.4. Maybe a mdk.rpm mirror that you can use urpmi with to get the deps.
pmpatrick
The mdk install cds reference a fvwm2-2.4.14-1mdk. Here's the description: Name: fvwm2Version: 2.4.14-1mdk Size: 3359 KB Source: contrib Currently installed version: (none) Summary: An improved version of the FVWM X-based window manager Description: FVWM2 (the F stands for whatever you want, but the VWM stands for Virtual Window Manager) is an improved version of the FVWM window manager for the X Window System and shares the same characteristics as FVWM. Install the fvwm2 package if you'd like to use the FVWM2 window manager.
bvc
pmpatrick, what ML and what pack? It's not on the three cd's of the ML 9.1 Standard Edition. Couldn't find it in Nautilus so I used aterm and fvwm or any variation thereof isn't to be found. Nails, do you have the readline-devel pkg installed? iphitus
Oh god! I had this problem. It's dep_hell at it's worst!!!! It took ages to fix and in the end I didn't like FVWM Ok, 1 if you EVER find a program that needs a dependency that's not on the mdk sources. YOur first stop is www.rpmseek.com There search for "what provides" in this case "libreadline.so.3" I found an rpm when I did it but i can't remember what it was. http://rpmseek.com/rpm-pl/compat-readline.html?hl=com&cs=libreadline.so.3:PR:0:0:0:0 It''s one of them. There is a Mandrake RPM with no problems here too ftp://ftp.surfnet.nl/pub/os/Linux/distr/M...4-1mdk.i586.rpm It's on contrib. Good luck!! I should really read my own posts  The source is obviously contrib which is from texstar's site, a fact which is apparent from the quote in my post(Source: contrib). Sorry for the confusion.
