Could anybody help me find how keyboard layout can be switched in Red Hat 9? Well, I know that I can do it through System Settings - Keyboard menu. But I mean the situation when writing a text I need to quickly change between a latin and non-latin keyboards.

In Windows I can use <Ctrl>-<Shift>, for example, to do this. Is there anything like this in Red Hat?

Thanks...

Sorry, this was a question which is definitely not interesting for most people here

But I am close to the solution of it, and the solution is quite general: it is to edit XF86Config file. Perhaps you could advise me how to do it properly?

I found a variant how to set the switch for a Russian keyboard:

Option "XkbRules" "xfree86"

Option "XkbModel" "pc105"

Option "XkbLayout" "ru"

Option "XkbVariant" "winkeys"

Option "XkbOptions" "grp:ctrl_shift_toggle,grp_led:scroll"

I tried to find an information about all the options which can be used in this file. man pages a very brief, they say nothing about these xkb* thingies.

No, no, everything ios much simpler - just for someone who might bee looking for this kind of information.

The keyboard switcher can be found between GNOME's applets and just put onto the panel - as easy as 1-2-3! And in KDE they say the way to switch keyboard is <Ctrl>-<Alt>-K, but I didn't try that yet.
