Guest monkfish
I am a fairly new user to Mandriva. I have the 2008 spring OS up and running. I have the task bar on auto hide. Somehow I did something that has locked the taskbar so it will not unhide. I also locked the application menu and it is not visible either. I used the keyboard command Alt + F1 and the Application menu opened but it is locked. How can I restore the desktop so I can see and use the application menu and the taskbar? I can't get to the mandriva Control Center among other things. thanks in advance.
{BBI}Nexus{BBI}
You could always reset your desktop back to default by removing your .kde folder. If you want to give this a try, stay at the login screen and do: Alt + Ctrl + F1 to get to a terminal screen. Login in with your (not root) username and password. Now type rm -rf .kde press enter, now type exit and press enter, then do Alt + F7 to get back to the login screen and login from there as normal. spinynorman
If you have stuff that you don't want to lose, you could try the KDE Control Centre first: Alt + F2, enter 'kcontrol' and click Run; select Desktop - Panels - Hiding. Change the settings as required.
Guest monkfish
Spiny, many thanks. Worked like a charm. I have no idea what I did to create the problem. It pays to know the keyboard commands.
