{BBI}Nexus{BBI}
Is anyone else having a problem with kdict? It no longer seems to function. I only get the message: Unable to connect to: dict.org:2628 Operation now in progress. It has been like this since Mandriva 2008. I have done a fresh install of 2008.1 and still the problem remains. It's not a distro issue as I have seen queries from other distro users about this same problem. Does anyone know what the deal is?
Greg2
It's working fine for me. Is your firewall blocking port 2628?
{BBI}Nexus{BBI}
Thanks for responding Greg2. Oh how I wish it was just a firewall issue. I've checked my firewall (Smoothwall) the port is not being blocked, and I have no other app(s) running on this (or any other) machine that use port 2628. I have also checked all machines (firewall included) using netstat and again port 2628 is not in use. Is there a possiblility my isp could be blocking this port? Is there a way I could check if this is the case?
Greg2
using netstat and again port 2628 is not in use. If you think port 2628 is open, try telnet. You may need to install a telnet-client, it's about 200kb. Then in a terminal (as user) do telnet dict.org 2628 are you in? If that doesn't work for you, something is blocking port 2628.
