To get it working, you need to install using WineX 3, and then manually edit the botf.ini or config file (whichever it is, since I'm on my work machine, I can't tell) to reflect WineX's translation of your drive locations. My recommendation is that you don't patch it to the latest version, even though that fixed the memory leaks in the Win version. Running under WineX doesn't render you as susceptible to the memory leaks. Crashes occasionally happen (less so than with Windoze though), and you might need to run the fix program to set the game's video to 16-bit texture use to avoid funky colors in the combat screens. Only Single player works,... online multiplayer doesn't, since the game used DirectPlay for that, and Direct Play is currently not emulated.
