Guest vmc
I found this, and may explain why Knights errored out. I noticed the path for the wav file is wrong. https://mandrivausers.org/index.php?showtop...st&p=239854 The above message refers to Jose as a chess program. I can't seem to find it. Is it in urpmi? Thanks.
Greg2
Which version of Mandriva are you using? If you set up your software sources (repositories) with easy-urpmi (the link is here: easyurpmi ). Then use your package manager or urpmi to install knights, I don't believe you will have any problems. I know this to be true because I use/play knights. Here is some more info on installing software: wiki.mandriva.com I've moved this to Games for you. Welcome to the board! :)
scarecrow
As a former pro chessplayer, I can inform you that jose is not at the Mandriva repos. More than that, the project is dead, but still working with the current java versions. Therefore it's easy to get it running under Mandriva: 1. Get the zipfile from sourceforge, and extract the /jose directory at /opt (or wherever you like). 2. Make it writable by any user you want to access it. 3. Start it by triggering the /opt/jose/jose.sh startup script.
