WilliamS
The small window contains the name of the source. RealPlayer does not launch, so what is missing is sound. Never tried video streams, as my connection is way too slow.
paleo
I'm a bit confused. you say At http://service.real.com/test/ the sound is perfect. so the problem is not that realplayer never launches. Right?
WilliamS
It only launches for that site. When I right-click on a source at http://www.cbc.ca/audio.html The "open-with" menu has no listing for realplayer audio, only video.
paleo
I think I see what you mean. You shouldn't have to right click it. When you just click the link, a new window pops up and it is silent. When you right click in that small window, you get a context menu of realplayer. Does this fit with what you get? At first I thought, it is not working for me as well but after leaving it up for a while, it started playing. My guess is that it is taking an awful long time to buffer and their volume seems rather low too. I think your realplayer is working fine actually. You might try the streams at news.bbc.co.uk they should play in the normal realplayer.
WilliamS
Installed RealPlayer8-8.0.3-5tex, then mozplugger-1.1.1-3mdk; everything works. Got the advice from http://www.ece.mcgill.ca/~wentsern/index.html some members of this list could benefit from reading the HOWTO.
