iphitus
What ports does KMerlin (MSN client) use? I want to let it through my firewall. James
static
tcp 1863 my friend, that's the msn port no matter the client software running (gaim, kmerlin, etc). You do know Gaim does 'em all, right?
iphitus
Yes i know about gaim and used it for a while however i can't send files Kopete wan't too bad but was very unstable. So i'm using KMerlin. Thanks
mtweidmann
If you want to do file transferes they are done on a different port, the ftp port to be precise. (can't remember which port that is) If you run the firewall set up from MDK Control Centre just alllow the ftp server and it should work. static
In which case it's port 21. Try it with 21 and 1863 open and let us know if thats all you need. I, however, WOULDN'T trun on the ftp service, because then you have a massive security risk if you aren't administering your ftp server. Just open the port for msn file transfers. Again, be sure to tell us if this works so in the future similar questioners can search and find this thread. 8)
mtweidmann
I haven't got the ftp services running AFAIK, I just had to un-block the port for MSN file transferes to work.

static
(From above link) There we go: MSN Messenger file transfer = TCP 6891-6900 I'd open those, but not the shitload for RTP connection 5004-65535.
