Guest Adriano
I don't recall, and I don't want to reinstall everything to find out, if Evolution and Gimp come with support for gtk 2 on 'Drake 9.1. Can anyone else enlighten me? I have tweaked quite a few things, but due to my chaotic approach, things like these happen. I have seen pics of Gimp running on antialiased fonts (it didn't say how), and I was told of a hack using gdkxft for gtk1.2 on the sylpheed mailing list, but I'd like to have everything running smoothly (that hack is not of the same quality as the beautiful Sans and Serif fonts on 9.1). Of course, if it doesn't work, it doesn't.
tyme
as far as i know, neither gimp nor evolution are able to make user of gtk2.
Guest stodge
That's a shame; Evolution looks pretty cool. I guess you have to install Ximian to get AA fonts in Evolution: http://www.ximian.com/images/screenshots/e...-fullscreen.png
Guest fubar::chi
it's pretty surprising that the gimp doesn't use the updated version of it's own toolkit (gtk = gimp tool kit)
tyme
it's pretty surprising that the gimp doesn't use the updated version of it's own toolkit (gtk = gimp tool kit) it's not it's toolkit anymore. that's how it started out, but it's evolved beyond that. they just kept the name. from the GTK website: GTK+ was initially developed for and used by the GIMP, the GNU Image Manipulation Program. Therefore, it is named "The GIMP Toolkit", so that the origins of the project are remembered. Today GTK+ is used by a large number of applications, and is the toolkit used by the GNU project's GNOME desktop
Guest Adriano
As I learnt after making the question, Gimp 1.3 uses gtk 2. Gimp 1.2 (the stable version) doesn't. Shame. I'll have to wait then.
