icons and shortcuts

So with my newly installed mandy 9.1 I can still do the "link to application" function, but when it comes to selecting the relevant icon for the shortcut, it is nowhere to be found.

I am refering to two of the default installed app's i.e. quanta and realplayer.

It's confusing the hell out of me, as when I installed "opera" the opera icon was under "other icons". But there doesn't seem to be anything for the quanta and realplayer mentioned earlier.

Any idea's please?

regards

John

If the your file database is updated, then run:

~$ locate png | egrep "quanta|realplayer"

/usr/share/icons/hicolor/16x16/apps/realplayer.png

/usr/share/icons/hicolor/32x32/apps/realplayer.png

~$

Notice that I don't have a quanta icon, because I don't have quanta installed.

If your database isn't updated, run as root:

~# updatedb

and run again the "locate" search

Guest anon

I don't have quanta installed either, but realplayer is listed in ,k start menu/ multimedia, just click on the icon there, and drag onto your desktop

Thanks anon and aru,

I found the ones using aru's trick, but when I located it, I could only place a copy of "quanta.png" on my desktop, so having tried anon's trick for the "realplayer" icon, I figured that it should also work for quanta.

And as I had had it open recently, I managed to do the drag and drop from the history at the top of the K menu and am now the owner of two new bouncing baby icons for realplayer and quanta.

many thanks for the help

regards
