hirohitosan
Hi there. Sorry for this basic question but I forgot how to configure X server from console. I change my monitor and of course my Xserver does't recognize my new monitor. The resolution is out of range. I went to console and tried #/etc/X11/XF86Config Permision denied How can I set up the resolution? BTW my monitor is ACER AL1716 and on the User Manual is said that can support 1280x1024, but my X server doesn't support this resolution. Maybe I need some new drivers for this resolution? Thanks
Greg2
From a terminal run XFdrake or to edit it manually, you can use vi, nano, or something with a gui, like kwrite. If you're using KDE, do kdesu kwrite /etc/X11/xorg.conf
