I'm installing xine from tarball and I'm trying to let it compile with alsa,..support. The problem is that it can't find alsa and I not really know where it is located. I tried to let it search automatically, didn't work. Tried to specify myself../usr/lib, /var/lib, /usr/share...no luck..it can't find the config-file to ask the version.

Thanks

you'll need the alsa-devel package to compile xine w/alsa support. not sure what the name of this package is, but doing a search in software manager (the install software part, through MMC) for "alsa-devel" should bring up the correct package.

thanks, that worked..another question...I'm using alsa now(I think..:)). When I play bzflag, I can still have audio from my cdrom-drive, but not when using alsa..(I've a simple, but good onboard via-audio card ). Is there a way alsa can take care so that I've ingame sound and audio from files on my harddrive ....
