New install won't boot from LVM drive

Hi all!

I liked the liveCD version of mandriva 2008 and thought I would give it a go.

For the past 2 years, I have been using an LVM setup for my main Linux installations and have always been very happy with it.

But Mandriva won't boot into it. I get a "kernel panic - tried to kill init" error.

From my experience, this happens when it cannot mount the filesystem, but I am not sure. I'm thinking it is possible the lvm module is not loaded, but can't think of a way I could get around this.

here is my menu.lst

timeout 10
color black/cyan yellow/cyan
gfxmenu (hd0,2)/gfxmenu
default 0

title linux
kernel (hd0,2)/vmlinuz BOOT_IMAGE=linux root=/dev/kubuntu/root resume=/dev/hdb1 vga=791
initrd (hd0,2)/initrd.img

title linux-nonfb
kernel (hd0,2)/vmlinuz BOOT_IMAGE=linux-nonfb root=/dev/kubuntu/root resume=/dev/hdb1
initrd (hd0,2)/initrd.img

title failsafe
kernel (hd0,2)/vmlinuz BOOT_IMAGE=failsafe root=/dev/kubuntu/root failsafe
initrd (hd0,2)/initrd.img

It is correct, in that my root LV is /dev/kubuntu/root so this puzzles me a lot.

Any help would be appreciated.
