ianw1974
How are you installing the bootloader? It can only go to the MBR if you are installing a raid setup.

Guest bsc_boss
Boy this screen is cute... I am getting the same error following the bouncing ball to install raid 1 using the 2008.0 free dvd iso. "Unknown bootloader method (install)" Whats up with that? I heve used two different machines. same thing. I did a custom partition on two 40 gig ide hd's, hda and hdc. I created 4 custom partitions, on each harddrive, using linux raid and added them to raid, md0, md1, md2,md3. added mount points for /boot, /, swap, and /home. It said i formatted md0, md1, and md3, as md2 is the swap partition. Asked for my use info, coppied all the files, did the KDE stuff, and then ERROR... unknown bootloader method! This is not the way to get windows pople to migratge to linux! google doesn't have $%^# in english about this stuff. knoppix said I have a grub bootloader on hda1, and i have an hda1, hda5, hada6, and hda7. the same is true for hdac. No mdx raid stuff per knoppix. My mbr's are clean per my dos fdisk. Plus, if somebody that knows whats up replied to this post, how the heck would i know? Guest azlatovic
Unknown bootloader method (install) - Solved !?! I had the same problem and I found out how to bypass this problem. In version 2007 you can still create RAID 1 on IDE disks. With version 2008 I needed to attach any disk which is reported as /dev/sda (SATA or SCSI). In this case RAID 1 was configured on IDE disks (in my case /dev/hda1 and /dev/hdc1), lilo was installed (during setup CHANGE anything in lilo config summary so you will be sure that lilo is written) and after that remove the temp disk (/dev/sda). On 2009 IDE disks were installed as SATA and I also needed to change anything in bootloader setup to take effect. Hope this helps!
