Guest joehill
When I look in the Software Manager for Freetype packages, I see that I have Freetype 1.3.1-12mdk, Freetype-tools 1.3.1-12mdk, and the one I most recently installed, Freetype2 2.0.6-2mdk. Is this normal? I am thinking that having these 2 packages installed is the reason I have never been able to get my fonts to look as good as I have seen from other Mandrake users. thanks to everyone! Guest aludal
... I deleted (rpm -e) all that *1.3.1-12 crap, and upgraded *2.0.6 to the current freetype2-2.1.2, of Texstar's stock, it's being said with BYTECODE INTERPRETER set at ON (#define) unlike the stock freetype2 packages of commercial distros. Don't use stock/upgrade 2.0.9, as it's w/out good (Apple's) hinting. Got me slightly better handling of truetype hints (my X and xfs resolutions are (separately) set @ 130 dpi, on 2048x1536x16bpi, then it shows java script:emoticon(':D') Well, waiting for my next upgrade to 157dpi, to forget about that blurry crap called "antialiasing" for good)
bvc
I never had freetype1 installed.
