Truecrypt 4.3a on mcn live or other crypt package

hi everbody

(sory I think my english may be bad) hi I am a new user linux about 2 weeks.

 

I am using MCN live Linux on usb and I am using truecrypt 4.3a. but ? have some problems.

 

1. I did not know how is installing packages on linux but now i know. I am installed Truecrypt-4.3a.rpm to mcn linux.

then i write

code: truecrypt -c

...........

...........

volume was created on /home/guest about 10M fat its name is qwe

 

then code: truecrypt qwe

enter password

failed loopback device load (first problem)

 

2. then I create volume on usb disk like other (qwe 10M fat)

but I have problem:

code: truecrypt qwe

enter password

FATAL: Module truecrypt not found

failed to load kernel module (second problem)

 

3. Then I uninstall Truecrypt and I installed from codes Truecrypt-4.3a.tar.gz

code tar -zxvf ..........

..............................

./build.sh

checking.....

kernel......[usr/src/linux]:

(third problem: where is my kernel-2.6.17-13mdv]

 

 

4. :huh: do you know others good crypt packages(crypt to usb or file or disk) on mcn live and how i install it

 

 

....SORY about that: I am writing on windows and I dont remember my codes very well..........

 

Please help me I have use Truecrypt on linux. If anyone use mandriva 2007 linux, may he-she write me "what are the codes"

I am not familiar with encryption, so I hope someone else will come here to help.

 

Please don't try to install 3rd party software that needs to be compiled. MCNLive does not come with development stuff.

 

There are already encryption modules included that should work out of the box.

But as I said, I am not familiar with it.

 

Main question is: what do you want to secure/encrypt? A file? Several files? A partition? Do you want to create an encrypted container? Where?

Here I could find truecrypt for MDV 2007.1 (if you are using Delft or Toronto)

You need two packges:

truecrypt and dkms-truecrypt

 

Also you need the matching kernel-sources for your kernel, (2.6.17-13), and some dev packages.

this is not an easy task in case of a live system.

 

In addition, if you create on a live system an encrypted container, it does not make sense to do it in /home/guest, because this is a directory in RAM, not on a real device.
