doody
I've been using the free version of Mandriva 2007 for a while now but wanted some of the extra things that came with the boxed version for example LinDVD etc. I've just installed the new boxed version, which was't straight forward. I was expecting it to do the usuall thing when installing, i.e. go through questions etc. and ask to set up root password and users and check printer settings etc. This has done none of that and I don't know how to set up the root password. I'm disappointed with Mandriva. I would be grateful if you could offer any advice. Thanks guys, doody
tyme
The discovery version is somewhat of a basic version intended for people who have never used Linux before (IIRC), which I suppose is why it doesn't do the usual set up. If you want a regular system with the setup and everything, you should probably get one of the other versions of Mandriva - perhaps the free version?
