emh
That's my question. I want to be able to start my ADSL connection as a regular user. Is it possible?
Michel
It is possible probably(didn't tried it myself...but you may test :) ). You can make a new group(if it doesn't exist already): say ADSL or maybe better ADSLconnect for the users that may startup an internetconnection..Then you just have change the group off all the files that are involved in the startup: some of them: /etc/ppp/.... those surely the micronode maybe the startup-scripts....except if uou make them yourself(I have a speedtouch_usb and in the previous versions I had to do some work myself and first tried out the commandline: 2 command for me: pppd call adsl and (sorry, another, but it was for inserting the micronode->modprobe?) if you have such a script already, just make all the files and the directory of that group. In the end : add yourself to that group....root can ofcourse always enable it..... If this works, you can ofcourse make a link from your menu to that dialupfile to make yourself easy. Michel
backup the files first if you try it and it didn't work :) "chown username:groupname filename" changes the owner/group of a file. "chgrp groupname filename" does the same only for the group
