Guest davone Posted December 31, 2006 Report Share Posted December 31, 2006 i just downloaded a huge mandriva folder and am going to put it on one of my computers, but im not sure which file i use to make the boot disk the mandriva folder contains; a boot folder, an isolinux folder, a loop backs folder, a rar file titled mandriva-one-2007-free-gnome the boot folder contains; a cd rom folder and a usb folder both of which contain a rar file titled initrd and a cfg file titled syslinux the isolinux folder contains; a security calalog titled boot, a bin file titled isolinux, and a cgf file titled isolinux the loopbacks folder contains a sqfs file titled distrib so basically i am asked what i need to do to with that to set it up Quote Link to comment Share on other sites More sharing options...
AussieJohn Posted January 1, 2007 Report Share Posted January 1, 2007 It sounds a lot like you have downloaded an ISO. It seems also that you have opened the iso to have seen the things you have listed. You have gone about the task the totally wrong way. You do NOT OPEN an iso. What you do is open a disc burning program such as Nero or such like in Windows (assuming you don't yet have a Linux OS). You make sure that you burn the ISO to disc as an ISO When you burn the disc correctly as an ISO and reboot, the install menu will automatically boot up. It is as simple as that. You would be well advised to use the checksum to make certain the iso is not faulty, BEFORE burning it to disc. Cheers. John. Quote Link to comment Share on other sites More sharing options...
