Guest MatthewG
I have an Abit NF7-S; how do I tell Mandrake 9.0 that it uses Serial ATA150? I don't see it on the list for SCSI cards. I have a disk of drivers that came with my mother board but there doesn't seem to be an opportunity to use it during the install process. Although, I not sure if those drivers would work for Linux. I have been reading a few posts with people having problems with motherboards that use ATA 150 but they could let least install the OS. Pzatch
What hardware are you running? What errors do you get when you try to install? Have you checked the Abit website for any hints? They might have some tips about installing linux on their hardware.
Guest MatthewG
Okay the error message states the following “An error occurred – no valid devices were found on which to create new filesystems. Please check your hardware for the cause of this problem.” I’ve checked the Abit website and didn’t find anything there. Hardware: Motherboard: Abit NF7-S Chip: Athlon XP 2100 Hard Drive: Seagate Barracuda ATA V Graphic Card: GainWard G4 Ti 4200 CD-Rom: LiteOn 48X 24X 48X Sound and Network on motherboard
DragonMage
I am not sure Serial ATA counted as SCSI card, especially Serial ATA 150. It is way too new a hardware for linux to support it fully. Anyway, is there a way to disable the Serial ATA from BIOS, so that linux won't detect it, hence so it can install?
