Guest nilstar
Hi, I bought a "NexStar" (Vantec) USB 2.0 Hard drive enclosure. But the Mandriva 2007 install DVD won't recognize the USB drive. I can't see it on the list of partitions to install to. Hence I can't install it. I see the USB Driver loading when the DVD loads, but it doesn't regonize my drive. Hardware: NexStar USB 2.0 HD Enclosure ATI Xpress 200 Chipset Motherboard (Intel Motherboard) Pentium D Bios does recognize the usb 2.0 drive (so does windows) PS - the only installation that recognized my USB HD was fedora 6, but my video card never worked so I can't use that either. pmpatrick
The install kernel probably does not have usb mass storage support. There is not much you can do about that unless there is an alternative kernel you can use. Also, that motherboard chipset is known to have problems in linux IIRC. ianw1974
You could use Fedora 6, but you'd have to boot using the parameter to force vesa instead of detecting your video card. I would suggest downloading the knoppix livecd to test to see what of your hardware is supported. If knoppix can see it, then it should work for Mandriva. There is also a Mandriva Live CD as well, so you could always try with this.
