Guest SDMF
Does anyone here have a RADEON 9000? Are there any issues that I should know about it before I try to install the driver? I got a RADEON 9000 in my other computer, and I thought I would give it a whirl with linux.
mtweidmann
The standard ATI drivers should work fine. But I think ATI have also realsed some "proper" drivers for their 9000 series. Worth checking out.
Guest SDMF
Well, I know when I previously had tried to throw this card in my MDK 9.0 box, it bitched at me saying there was no compatible driver and wouldn't start X. So I thought I would probably have to install a new version or different driver altogether.
pmpatrick
According to this link ATI's new driver should work with the Radeon 9000: http://www.ati.com/support/drivers/linux/r...deon-linux.html I am very curious about this myself. If you do decide to give it a try please post back your experience.
Guest SDMF
Yeah, I'll be trying it some time this week, probably by Wednesday or Thursday, so keep a lookout for this thread, I will let you know how it went.
Glitz
Just a quick aside here. Would those drivers also work on the mobile radeon 9000? Glitz.
Guest SDMF
That's a good question. I'm not sure, since they don't make the distinction between the two on the ATI site. I'm gonna crack open the box that currently has the 9000 in it tomorrow to swap out an ethernet card, so I will be trying out the driver then. I'll post back once I've done that.
