pmpatrick
I don't know about 3.1 but in 3.0 you can do it in KDE Control Center>Sound>System Notifications. There's a button to disable all sounds or you can go through the sounds in KDE System Notifications or KDE Window Manager one at a time and eliminate only the ones you find annoying or problematic. pmpatrick
Try going to the same section but go to Sound Server instead of System Notifications. It might be an incompatability with the aRts sound server. Disable the aRts sound server by unchecking 'Start aRts soundserver on KDE startup" and hit the Apply button. I think that should disable aRts but you may have to reboot.
