eroica Posted April 6, 2006 Report Share Posted April 6, 2006 hello, hosed kde 3.4.2 by trying to install the big menu improvement from kde-look. once i changed the kickerrc program and did a killall sigup kickerrc i lost the my customized panel settings. So i decided to restart kde w/some apps open.now when i restart kde i get stuck @ point of"Restoing session" 83%. i have booted to a prompt and restored the original kickerrc file but still when i start kde it hangs on restoring session. any suggestions on how i can unhose my install. eroica Posted April 6, 2006 Author Report Share Posted April 6, 2006 note i deleted all files in ~/.kde/share/apps/session thinking that might be holding it up. now i get 100% and screen says "kde is up and running"unfortunetly screen freezes there.. Ixthusdan Posted April 6, 2006 Report Share Posted April 6, 2006 First, rename /home/youruser/.kde to ~.kdeback. Then launch kde again and see if it will setup a new directory. If it does, you can then begin to add your personalized settings until you find the problem. If it doesn't, then kde is messed and I would reinstall kde, and then rename your personalized settings folder in order to restore them.
