lynchmob
I am a Comptia® Linux+ Certified Professional. I took the and passed the exam on 12/14/02 and I have been studying off and on since with the intention of taking the LPIC 101 exams. They are a bit more difficult than the Linux+ it seems. The Linux+ is for someone with about 6 months experience (that's every day/all day on the job use). If you have a year or more daily experience with Linux, the Linux+ is easy, if you study specifically for that exam. With LPIC, you should have about 2-3 years of daily experience to pass both exams. lynchmob
Gowator
If you are interested in LPIC then this is a great resource. http://www-128.ibm.com/developerworks/linux/lpi/index.html Its my personal preference to take someome with LPIC because it doesn't tie you quite so much on a distro as RHCE, in my previus job distro was at least partly vendor controlled in that if you are paying over a million a year in license fees and support (my dept did) then you take the distro that is supported. My ex co ran quite a few IBM supercomputers and IBM support LPIC... and I think it is also more compatible witrh other non-linux boxes we had like old SGI's and Solaris but in the end it depends what the person recruiting YOU is looking for and that depends what sort of field you go for and also WHERE you live, especially Novell vs RH... (IMHO) I honestly think they are all excellent compared with MSCE and the Novell or RHCE certs make sense if you want to work for companies using their products. Even having an MSCE is important if a company are looking to migrate from say echange to open Exchange .... LPIC is much much cheaper if you do home study because its set out to allow you to only take the exam if that's what you want. However different people learn in different ways and if you want a training course then I don't think the per hour cost is any different! gem-in-eyez
Well I visited a link I saw on the forum and was wondering what all your thoughts are about this: Mandriva 2006 Book Mandriva 2006 Training - This package includes the NEW Mandriva 2006 book, a 10 hour training CD written in flash and the 4 CD set of Mandriva 2006. This is a great way to start with the NEW Mandriva (formerly Mandrake). Price: $24.95 Wondering if it is worth getting and if anyone has made any purchases through spidertools.com I think I am going to just climb the linux ladder by doing the training in order....starting from the: https://www.redhat.com/training/elearning/c.../rhl_intro.html https://www.redhat.com/training/elearning/c...ro_windows.html https://www.redhat.com/training/elearning/c...l_sysadmin.html https://www.redhat.com/training/elearning/c...networking.html and then going for the Red Hat Certified Engineer (RHCE) exam. By doing this I think I will get another pc for the installation of the Mandriva 2006 os. However I downloaded the live CD from Mandriva and was wondering: When I pop that CD in my system and it boots off it. Does any data get saved to my local drive? IF so then that means that whatever configs I do they never really get saved then...
