Gul Dukat
Hi, when trying to play Divx or Xvid-files with MPlayer, I'm getting an Fatal error. The strange thing is, I can play those files using Kaffeine with no problem. Win32-codecs are installed. The Fatal error comes with the following message: Error: opening/initializing the selected video_out (-vo) device. I only hope one of you can help me out here. By the way, I only seem to have this error whenb trying to open these files on my laptop, on which I installed Mandriva 2006 x86_64. My desktop, with Mandriva 2006 i586, has no problems what so ever with playing these files on MPlayer. Thanks in advance.
devries
Try a different vo. :) Type mplayer -vo help to get a list of possibilties and then mplayer -vo 'the one you selected' <name of file>
Gul Dukat
Thanks for your fast reply. But I'm using MPlayer with the MPayer-gui, so how do change the -vo with the gui?
Gul Dukat
Oke, devries thanks fot your input. So far I manged to solve the problem by changing the available Video-driver to gl2. But that didn't solve the problem entirely. As I was playing the files directly from CD, the problem still remained. After I copied the files to hte hard-drive, the problem was solved. But why can't I play the files directly from my CD?
devries
Try playing the files with mplayer and not with mplayer-gui. Look for differences between the output from the CD and from the HD.
