Guest Ben Hubbard
Problems starting installation. Computer Spec iMac G5 1.6 GHz 512 mB RAM 75 GB HD (1 disk) Partitions 1. Mac OS X 55 gB 2. Mandriva Linux 20 gB Inserted the Distro CD (Mandriva Linux 2005 (MAC/PPC)) and held C down. The Mandrake Kernel loads up, then bootloader Yaboot and presents me with following options. install-gui install-text rescue etc. I type in the command install-gui, its proceeds but then it shows a white screen with the Apple Macintosh Open Firmware, requiring either to mac-boot (boot into Mac OS X) or shut-down. I also tried typing in install-gui-power4, again it runs through presents itself to be ok loads the kernel, then a blank black appears and I see no more of the progress being made. The iMac internal fans also start to make a loud noise (strange) when I get to the point when I cant go any further. I'm fairly new to linux and dont have a great background in it. I dont know if I'm missing anything out here, that I havent taken into consideration. If anyone could help or point me in the right direction (a good source of information on Linux on Mac) that would be great. Ben
