solarian
Hi! A simple question, but I've wasted a lot of time trying to find where to switch this damn thing off kde.. options... grumbles... When I installed new MDV and KDE a few days ago and when I attached my digicam I got prompted whether I'd like that from now on every time Konqueror opens a new window with that usb storage location. I agreed, but I didn't know then that it will have problems with my usb digicam and that I'd have to use other programs accessing it (gtkam and digikam), anyway - I want to switch that auto-opener off, someone here knows how to do it? thanks! scarecrow
kcontrol/peripherals/storage media/advanced Untick "enable medium application autostart after mount". This way HAL will automount, but no popup will occur. If you don't want automounting, untick "enable hal backend" as well. solarian
All would be swell, just I don't have such an option as -storage media- under peripherals!
scarecrow
That's funny... please check if you have any missing KDE packages (look especially for not installed packages on the "kdeadmin" family).
solarian
I checked and doublechecked - all kdeadmin packages are installed, even ended up upgrading to the latest kdebase (3.5.1-8) mde subrelease. I'm willing to suspect that they've just forgotten to compile that particular kdeadmin package!
scarecrow
I don't use Mandy, so I don't know... but the "storage media" entry surely enough exists on my kcontrol (KDE 3.5.0 on Arch Linux 0.7.1).
kmc77
Storage Media is listed under KDE/System on my computer
solarian
Not here.............. ......................................... ========================== Ah, at last found it!!!!!!! under network....!!!!!!! who would have guessed........ needless to say this inconsistency between various versions of KDE is irritating one would have wished that they keep their menu structure simmilar if not the same at least in dotpoint releases  It's hard enough without this additional chaos variable to navigate their kcontrol Edited February 13, 2006 by solarian
scarecrow
It's rather a "Desktop" policy... while most distros follow the "OpenDesktop" hierarchy, Mandriva does not (yet), regarding its menus. But yes, I agree this IS irritating, and a common denominator should be adopted sooner rather than later...
