jthing
Hi ALL I have been trying to play CD's with amarok. If i insert a CD the KsCD opens and plays. I have tried to figure out why amarok doesn't play but did'nt have any success. I re installed 2006 as i was having problems with other sound files. After re installing 2006 i still cant play CD's. Can you help Please...
scarecrow
Due to the fact Amarok uses the KDE's VFS and xine does not understand a bit about it, you must not use the xine Amarok engine to playback audioCD's. There were issues with the gstreamer engine as well, but they are fixed in Amarok 1.3.7.

scarecrow
Ummm, maybe something isn't terribly good about your ALSA config. Can you please: 1. open a root console, 2. telinit 3 3. Login as root 4. alsaconf (and letting it pick the correct settings). After finishing, either reboot or type "telinit 5" to go back to your login screen. scarecrow
"telinit 3" is wise, because in init 5 some application may be trying to access your soundcard, which isn't desirable.
