Guest tom31366
I have a Thinkpad 600 (P-II 300MHZ with 256MB of RAM). I want to install Mandriva 2006 on it (Just downloaded the 3 CD's). Here are my questions: - I tried an install, but wasn't sure what video driver, resolution, etc. to use. Testing a couple, the screen was slightly shifted to the left. How can I fix this? - I know sound can be tricky in any Linux distro. Can someone tell me the easiest route? I read here that the AWE64 driver worked? - While I am at it. I have a Netgear wireless PC card (MA401) I'd like to get working. How hard would this be? Thanks in advance. scarecrow
Since IBM never used the same hardware in all its notebook revisions, it's hard to say what you have in there. Please run lspci in a root console and paste the output here- it will surely help.

ALSA actually found and correctly configured it! I think the key was shutting off "Quick Boot" in the BIOS, which from what I have read, is similar to "Plug and Play OS" in others. Now to get my Netgear MA401 wireless adapter working......
aRTee
Quick boot just skips some mem checks - it would surprise me if this equates to what PnP OS does in other systems...
Guest tom31366
I am just parroting what I have read on other boards, and the results speak for themselves as I could not get sound working before......
