christophe_ca
Hello everyone, I'm wondering if we should update Mandriva using urpmi? I've recently read we shouldn't but that is the first time I hear about it. What do you think? Christophe
arctic
What do you mean with "update"? Update the packages and apply bugfixes etc.? If you mean that, then definitely use "urpmi --auto-select". If you want to upgrade to the next development version of Mandriva, e.g. from LE2005 to 2006, then you can do it, but it is not without some minor risks. Usually upgrading the system works well if you do it from a non-GUI environment (=command line). Take a look at some other threads that we have on this topic before thinking of an upgrade. The easiest and safest solution would be a clean install using the ftp-install-CD option or the CD/DVD install.
