Guest Kalimero Posted February 7, 2003 Report Share Posted February 7, 2003 Hi and help ! i have xp and mdk 9 on my pc, so xp was make me some troubles and i have done a format and so on.. but. i forgot to save boot.ini in the first place and now i can't get to linux :( me and my hurry (time pressure) can you gus help a newbie to modify boot.ini file so i can get back to both os? please Thank you in advance.. You reboot the box with the 1st in and choose to do a repair installation. I think that rewrites the mbr so you can get into linux. pmpatrick Posted February 7, 2003 Report Share Posted February 7, 2003 Your question is not clear as to what boot loader you were using. If you were using either lilo or grub that came with Mandrake, it's easy to restore it. Insert your CD 1 install cd and reboot. When the install screen comes up, press F1 for more options and type "rescue" without quotes at the command prompt. A number of options will be presented one of which is restore boot loader. Coose that one and follow the on screen instructions and lilo(or grub if you use that one) will be reinstalled. Quote Link to comment Share on other sites More sharing options...
