arctic
Welcome aboard :) Never ever log in as root in KDE. That is a no-no in Linux. It is better to do the following: Open a terminal (like Konsole or gterm) and log in as root there, typing "su", then entering the root password. Now you can launch the applications without activating a whole gui as root from theh command line. E.g. type konqueror" for launching Konqueror, or "mcc" for launching the Mandriva-Control-Center (aka "configure your computer"). If you are not sure about the correct endings of certain commands, type the first letters and hit <tab> for auto completing of commands. Dustpuppy
Or you can get a run prompt up by doing alt-F2 and then type in "kdesu" followed by the command. Eg to open the /mnt folder as root in Konqueror, do "kdesu konqueror /mnt". A prompt will then come up asking for your root password. Give it, and away you go.
