Hi,

I have a problem with Grub. I don't have a floppy drive and my cd drive in not working, that's why I chose to use Grub. I followed all the steps to install Mandriva; and I just figured out how to get Grub working. When I chosed it on the OS option menu, it wrote " Error 18: Cannot mount selected partition " it was talking about this:

kernel (hd0,0)/boot/vmlinuz append ramdisk_size=128000 automatic=method:cdrom acpi=ht vga=788 splash=silent

label vgalo kernel alt0/vmlinuz

I'm betting that its wrong,so what should I put there? Oh, here is my menu.lst:

timeout 10

title Windows at (hd0,0)

root (hd0,0)

chainloader +1

title Mandriva Installer (hd0,0)

kernel (hd0,0)/boot/vmlinuz append ramdisk_size=128000 automatic=method:cdrom acpi=ht vga=788 splash=silent

label vgalo kernel alt0/vmlinuz

initrd (hd0,0)/boot/all.rdz

And when I get linux installed how do I get rid of Windows xp?

Now I changed my menu.lst to this:

timeout 10

title Windows at (hd0,0)

root (hd0,0)

chainloader +1

title Mandrake Linux on (hd0,0)

kernel (hd0,0)/boot/vmlinuz root=/dev/hda1 quiet devfs=mount acpi=ht vga=788

initrd (hd0,0)/boot/all.rdz

but it still won't work!!!!:wall:

Oh, :P :thanks:

Lol

When it showed me the install screen it said install from (many choices),so I chose hard drive. Then it showed me a screen that had: choose from the following: hda1 hda2 hda5. I chose each of these. and then I had to type in the directory the iso(cd image) is in. I put the iso image in C:\mandriva. When I typed that in it said error could not find file. where should I place the cd image or what should i type on the screen?

Nvm about the post previous. Well anyways, I got through all that and now the screen came up with an error:

"no valid devices were found on which to create new filesystems, please check your hardware for the cause of this problem."

does anyone know what that is and how to fix it?
