urpmi - re-configuring repository [solved]

Hello Firends,

I am running Mandrake 10.1 Official.

Recently I added the repository with the help of http://easyurpmi.zarb.org/.

Everything was working fine and smooth.

But then, I ran the Mandrake intaller again, foolish of me.

Actually i was recieving lot of error related to develeopment package when i try to install something (./configure). As I did not select the "Development" option during initial intallation, therefore I thought that I can re-install (upgrade, but not actually, since i was running same installer).

But when I ran "Install Softwre" tool , it did not show the reprository that I added before.

The list and data (headers or whatever) is in my system, so how can I just re-configure the urpmi to take the setting from there. So i didn't have to re-download the data from internet again.

:help:

I have sort of limited downloading limit of the interent. Thats why it should helpful to me if I can just re-configure.

thanks

those hdlist resides at /var/lib/urpmi.. try to #ls /var/lib/urpmi and you'll see those files there.. that is, if the reinstallation you made did'nt delete those you've downloaded already...

and here's my urpmi.cfg located at /etc/urpmi/

[root@box xxx]# cat /etc/urpmi/urpmi.cfg

you might try to copy that and paste into your /etc/urpmi/urpmi.cfg since my box is also Mdk 10.1, well I dont know if that will work, have'nt tried it yet, but just give it a try...

Hey, Thanks for the reply...

everything went fine, after adding above code, it start showing the entries in the "Install Software".

But, there is just problem, It didnot show my CDROMs entries. It shows just disk 1, not 2 and 3.

It happened before also, when I added the repository to urpmi (when i donwloaded it from net), the Disk 3 did not show up int he list.

What could be the reason.

There is a howto for recovering lost urpmi Install CD sources, see this:

http://mandriva.vmlinuz.ca/bin/view/Main/U...st_sources_cds_

which says:

If you find you do not have all your cds listed as sources, try

urpmi.addmedia --distrib cdrom removable://mnt/cdrom

with the CD in your drive.

The rest of that web page is an excellent overall urpmi reference.

Disclaimer: I have not had a need to try this, but I am assuming it works.
